About Chiropractic Works

Chiropractic Works has served the Cairns community for 23 years, operating from locations in Cairns and Mareeba at 193 Byrnes Street. The practice offers comprehensive chiropractic care for families, athletes, prenatal and paediatric patients, and those presenting with complex cases. With 40 years of combined experience, the clinic holds ScoliCare Affiliate status, providing non-surgical management options for scoliosis and hyperkyphosis.

The clinical team comprises four practitioners. Dr Nathan Bridge holds a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and Master of Chiropractic, having joined in 2005 following experience running a Sydney practice and lecturing at Macquarie University. He served on the Chiropractors Association of Australia NSW Executive Board and Gonstead Chiropractic Society Executive Board, with additional training in scoliosis assessment. Dr Rachel McEwan graduated with distinction from RMIT and has spent 15 years serving Cairns, with special interests in women’s health and chronic pain. She has undertaken training in scoliosis rehabilitation (SEAS), Explain Pain (NOI group), and paediatric care, and is a member of the Australian Chiropractors Association. Dr Chris Bannon completed nine years of university education including qualifications from RMIT and the University of Windsor, Canada, regularly attending seminars on paediatrics, nutrition and chiropractic. Dr Kate Smallwood holds a background in Sport and Exercise Science alongside her qualification from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, maintaining membership with the Australian Chiropractors Association with special interests in infant development and tongue and lip ties.

The practice utilises the Gonstead technique as its primary focus, alongside manual adjusting, instrument assisted techniques, massage therapy, exercise prescription, acupuncture and scoliosis specific exercise treatment. Facilities include a computerised X-ray machine, with specialised services including The Flying Chiropractor mobile service, Mattress Works sales and advice, and exercise physiology. The team has experience working with patients presenting with back and neck pain, headaches, sports injuries, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, hip and shoulder pain, poor posture, scoliosis, sciatica, vertigo, pregnancy-related conditions and paediatric concerns.

Extended hours are available Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 6:30pm and Saturday from 8:00am to 12:00pm, with Sunday and public holiday appointments by arrangement via 0404 299 511. The clinic provides onsite parking and offers HICAPS for instant private health claims, accepting DVA and private health funds.
